San Francisco Open Studios

Open Studios are a big event here. Each weekend for the next 4 weeks artist’s studios in different neighborhoods are open and there’s a lot of citywide publicity. My work will be shown on November 1st and 2nd at Alley Cat Bookstore Gallery in the Mission. I just finished this piece which will be among several I am exhibiting. I wish you all could join me!

Sudden Sky

Sudden SkyThis piece is in a group show this month at Collector in Berkeley along with 4 earlier works. Perhaps this piece is influenced by the West, but there is so much to absorb I think it will be a while before my art reflects what I see and feel in this new environment.

Greetings from San Francisco

I’ve landed on my feet in San Francisco in a quiet neighborhood called Bernal Heights. Wonderful little houses, nice people, hilltop views, lots of light – and a short drive to the ocean. Bernal HeightsIMG_4125

My paintings will be in a group show this summer at Collector Art, a gallery in Berkeley, where they currently feature my art cards. A bookstore down the street from me is also selling my cards. I’m looking forward to printing another card series and spending time in my studio inspired by this new environment.

The process of moving 3000 miles to an entirely new city and set of circumstances is quite a ‘production.’ Many things still in process, including me! – Virginia

Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,

and bow and accept the end

Of a love or a season?

Reflection: 1. throwing back light without absorbing it, 2. serious thought or consideration.

This summer was an intense immersion in monoprinting for me. I hope you will visit the monoprint page on my website and check out my other new work:
